Highlanders Farms and the Blue Family Support Blast & Cast
“If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” John 7:37-38 New King James Version
John and Vickie Blue, owners of Highlanders Farm, feel God has blessed them over the years in many ways and continues to be so faithful. “When we learned about Blast and Cast and its mission, we knew this would be an awesome opportunity to be part of sharing the Good News of God’s saving grace in our community.” Vickie continues, “To sponsor Blast and Cast is one opportunity to help others come to know the awesome living God that we serve. Our prayer is that Blast and Cast will reach more for Christ and to become a beacon of light in our community.”
Highlanders Farm, located at 5784 Highway 22 in Carthage, was settled in 1804 by John Blue’s Scottish Highland ancestors. The primary crop, tobacco, sustained the family farm until the early 2000s. Since then, the farm converted to multiple vegetable and fruit crops, including tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, sweet corn, lettuce, kale, squash, strawberries, melons, and peaches.
Highlanders Farm Stand opened in 2007, offers fruits and vegetables, and features a homemade ice cream stand. The Country Store features gifts, crafts, yard/home décor, jams, jellies, cheeses, local honey, and sausage.
Highlanders Farm Stand opens in the spring with strawberries (mid-April) and closes with the last peaches in September. The highlight of every visit to Highlanders Farm is the homemade Butter Pecan ice cream, John Blue’s particular favorite. You can find Highlanders Farm on the Visit NC Farm App.
